Long Speech on Independence Day for Senior Students
Dear esteemed guests, honorable principal, respected teachers, and my dear fellow students,
Today, we all have gathered here to celebrate India’s 75th Independence Day, which is a momentous occasion for every Indian.
On August 15, 1947, India achieved its freedom from the British Raj, which ruled our nation for more than 200 years.
This day is not only a celebration of India’s freedom struggle, but also a reminder of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and leaders, who gave us the gift of independence.
The Indian freedom struggle was a long and arduous journey, marked by several milestones, sacrifices, and victories.
The journey began in 1857, with the Sepoy Mutiny, which was the first organized revolt against the British rule.
It was followed by several movements, including the Non-Cooperation Movement, the Civil Disobedience Movement, and the Quit India Movement, led by Mahatma Gandhi, who is known as the Father of the Nation.
These movements mobilized millions of Indians, who fought for their rights, dignity, and freedom.
The freedom struggle also witnessed the courage and sacrifice of several great leaders, who dedicated their lives to the cause of freedom.
Some of them include Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, and Rani Laxmi Bai, who inspired and guided the people of India to fight against the British.
Finally, on August 15, 1947, India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the tricolor flag at the Red Fort in Delhi, and declared India as a sovereign, democratic, and independent nation.
The joy and enthusiasm of the people were boundless, as they celebrated their hard-won freedom.
However, the journey of independent India has not been easy.
Our nation faced several challenges, such as poverty, illiteracy, communalism, and corruption, which continue to affect our progress and development.
Yet, we have come a long way, and made significant strides in various fields, such as science, technology, education, and sports.
India is now one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, with a rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and a vibrant democracy.
We have achieved several milestones, such as the Green Revolution, the White Revolution, the Space Program, and the Digital Revolution, which have transformed our nation and made us self-reliant.
However, we still have a long way to go.
We need to tackle our challenges with determination, courage, and collective effort.
There is a need to work towards building a just, equitable, and inclusive society, where every citizen has equal rights and opportunities.
We need to promote peace, harmony, and respect for diversity, and uphold the values of democracy and freedom, which are the foundation of our nation.
On this Independence Day, let us remember the sacrifices of our forefathers, who gave us the gift of freedom and renew our pledge to uphold the principles of democracy, equality, and justice.
Let us strive to build a better India, which is free from poverty, ignorance, and discrimination.
Let us stand united, as proud Indians, and work towards a brighter future for our nation.
Jai Hind!
